Life without God.
God created Adam and Eve in his own image. They were created perfect, without any flaws. Put in the Garden of Eden, they had every advantage. They were fed well, the temperature was perfect. There were no pests to bother them, and a biggie, there were no health problems to worry about. Adam and Eve had it all.
But there was only one problem, someone wanted to take it all away. He was jealous and hated anyone whose attention was on God. He wanted all the attention for himself, so he devised a plan. As far as success was concerned, Satan thought he knocked it out of the park. Bingo, he had what he wanted. Adam and Eve would live for eternity, but in devastation.
God told them,
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:17
I don’t think they realized what that meant.
The Bible tells us that the woman was deceived, but the man was not. He went along for some reason. Who knows why. We weren’t there, but we can speculate. In any case, the die was cast. Adam and Eve and their progeny were destined for death and destruction forever.
“and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.” 1 Timothy 2:14 ESV
This was really bad news. Adam and Eve were supposed to live forever with God. Instead, not only were they to die, but their death would mean separation from God himself. One minute they were walking in the garden with God, the next they would be separated from him forever.
This would be bad news indeed, but God had a plan. He would send his own son to experience the pain and anguish that we were to go through.
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:14 ESV
Let that sink in. God sent his son to die so we wouldn’t have to experience eternity without him.
That is quite amazing to me. God the Father cared so much for us that he was willing to send his Son to die in our stead. On top of that, His Son Jesus was willing to do so. It’s hard to imagine what that means. The bottom line, I’m able to live for eternity with all God has to offer. Otherwise, I would be subject to the most awful existence possible. I can’t understand how people can reject the truth.
Jesus is exclusive. He is the only way to God. You cannot enter by any other way. Many try, but they are disappointed in the end.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV
Life on this earth is short. Do the right thing and serve the creator. You have everything to gain.
“yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” James 4:14 ESV
